14. Backstage During The Underground 16 Dec 2016

Jazmin Davis, escorted by two EMTs and a chair wielding Flower Pao Pao, slowly makes her way into the backstage area. The medical personnel ease the young woman down into a chair, examining her thoroughly.

Jazmin: Trust me, guys, I’m fine...neck is a little sore but I’m fine.

She rubs the back of her neck as she looks over to Flower.

Jazmin: (with a weak laugh) Welcome to UGZ, girl.

Flower looks at Jazmin almost holding back tears and gives her a forced smile. She wipes the tears off her eyes and gives a small laugh.

Flower: Yeah. Thanks. But are you sure you’re ok?

Jazmin: I’m good. I’d probably be alot worse if you wouldn’t have come down with that chair. Definitely good lookin’ out.

One of the EMTs hands Jazmin an ice pack before finally giving her the once over and making their departure. Without any pause, Jazmin places the pack on the back of her neck, absorbing the cold effects. Flower sets the chair in her hand down and the young girl rushes Jazmin unexpectedly to give her friend a hug quickly forgetting that she was just hurt.

Flower: I mean I couldn't have just left my friend out there! I couldn't just stand in the back and watch. Those bullies. I HATE bullies. But at least they didn't hurt you too much Jaz!

A mixture of shock and being hurt overcomes Jazmin, but only for a brief second before returning the hug.
Jazmin: I hate bullies too but now that you came out there they’re goin’ to be lookin’ to get revenge on you, Flower.

The Young MexSam girl releases the hug and takes a step back, an expression of confusion plastered on her face.

Flower: Re-revenge on me? Like they're going to try and come after me?

The girl's expression becomes one of worry and panic now as she starts rambling.

Flower: What am I going to do? I just got here and people are going to be coming for me. I didn't think this through. Im scared Jaz….

Jazmin: Calm down, Flower, calm down. You’re...we’re goin’ to be fine. Well at least as fine as you can get in this sport. As long as we got each other’s back we’ll be good.

Jaz slowly stands to her feet and puts her arm over Flower’s shoulder.

Jazmin: It’s clear that I can’t count on Sophia. She and I made a good team out there but when it came to needin’ her after the match she was nowhere to be found. But I got you, Flower. We’re in this together, sister!

The two young women embrace in a hug before making their way toward the locker room.
